New Pokémon Snap sells four times more than original game
New Pokémon Snap sat comfortably ahead of its rival triple-A release for the week
The much-anticipated New Pokémon Snap for the Nintendo Switch sold more than four times as much during its UK physical launch week than the original Nintendo 64 game did in September 2000.
This makes it the third largest UK Switch release of 2021, behind only Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury and Monster Hunter Rise.
New Pokémon Snap sat comfortably ahead of its rival triple-A release for the week, the PS5-exclusive Returnal, reports GamesIndustry.biz, citing the GfK Top Ten sales chart for the week beginning on May 1. In fact, Switch games in general performed well in general, with titles like Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, Ring Fit Adventure, and the Switch port of Minecraft all saw modest sales boosts in the UK despite not being new releases.
