The Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom is going to arrange a 9-day Science Olympiad in Rajshahi division from Thursday to promote and popularize science education in Bangladesh.

University students from Rajshahi Division will participate in the Olympiad titled 'Precise Energy' in two rounds. Winners from each discipline will get attractive prizes, including a week-long education trip to Russia, said a press release.

The primary round will be held at Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST), Kushtia Islamic University between February 20 and 24.

The second round will take place at Iswardi town, near the RNPP between February 26 and 28.

A total of 160 students selected from the primary round, being divided in three groups, will sit for tests either on Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry.

Later, a closing ceremony will be held at an auditorium in Ishwardi of Pabna on February 28.

Second round participants, representatives from the organizers, local administration and media among others will attend the ceremony.

The winners will get the prizes at a ceremony to be held in Dhaka in March.

Pabna district of Rajshahi division hosts Rooppur Nuclear Power project (RNPP), the first ever nuclear power plant of the country. The plant is under construction with the financial and technological assistance from Russia.

The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant will host two energy blocks with latest 3+ Generation Russian VVER-1200 reactors. Each block will be of 1200 MW capacity.

Towards the center of the disc, the white dwarf uses its strong magnetic fields to funnel the hydrogen towards its poles. As the material falls on the hot surface of the star, it triggers a micronova explosion, contained by the magnetic fields at one of the white dwarf's poles. European Southern Observatory/M.
