Job Context: The University of South Carolina's Rule of Law Collaborative (USC-ROLC), through its status as a practical research institution, and the Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST), through its expertise as the premier legal aid organization in Bangladesh, are best-placed to lead the 'Empowering Workers for Justice (EWJ)' project to reinforce the ability of construction and tannery workers to organize, self-advocate, confront abuses, and push for reform on both an operational and policy level.

Position Description: BLAST seeks some qualified Paralegals (equivalent to Field Organizer) for its Ashulia office, in Dhaka district. This position is under the EWJ Project. The position of Paralegal is required to ensure relationship with the target group of beneficiaries and relevant stake-holders and to provide support in implementing the project activities especially to provide legal information, support in organizing awareness program, different meetings, support in conducting litigation for Leather & leather goods workers.
Job Responsibilities
- Form community based Shelf-Help Groups (SHG) of leather & leather goods workers in working areas.
- Undertake and conduct capacity-building activities among them to transform them into sustainable groups
- S/he will be responsible for receiving beneficiaries in person and completing their application forms for legal services.
- Attending to inquiries by email, phone, or in-person, regarding case updates from beneficiaries, staff, panel lawyers and Court clerks.
- Assisting self-help groups and Trade unions in conducting legal awareness sessions.
- Building working relations with other service providers and NGO representatives who are working in the project area.
- Maintain and update the case register and online Case Management System (CMS).
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly updates about the activity to the supervisor. Prepare and send field visit reports regularly and periodic reports as requires.
- Collect information, and documents from the respective court & police station as requires.
- Liaison with the government legal aid office at the respective court.
- Assist in contacting the beneficiary when necessary.
- Assist in round-the-clock communication with beneficiaries and offices.
- Perform all other duties as and when required by the authority.
Educational Requirements: Minimum Bachelor's or equivalent degree from any reputed institution.
Experience Requirements: At least 2 year(s)

Salary: Negotiable (as per BLAST service rules)

Salary, Benefits and allowances: commensurate with experience and BLAST's salary scale and policy, two festival bonuses equivalent to one month's basic salary each payable after successful completion of 6 months' probation.
