Required Qualification Summary:
U.S. Embassy Dhaka's premier American Space, the Edward M. Kennedy (EMK) Center, is seeking a dynamic change agent with proven operations leadership experience as the Center Director. The director will lead efforts to drive forward and institutionalize center initiatives related to education, entrepreneurship and innovation, art and culture, and youth empowerment. As the director of one of South Asia's leading American Spaces, the director will oversee the development and implementation of the center's strategic plan, cultivate, and maintain critical stakeholder relationships, contribute ideas to programming, and provide technical guidance to different units and project teams for further development. The director will be expected to develop an organizational culture and enabling environment in which members of the EMK Center team are motivated to develop their professional skillset, build connections with strategic partners, share knowledge, and utilize innovative approaches to improve engagement with Bangladeshi youth.
Responsibilities:
- Plan programs and campaigns involving deadlines, milestones, and processes in support of the EMK Center strategy driven by U.S. Embassy Dhaka's mission goals and priorities of the Office of the American Spaces for furthering public diplomacy in Bangladesh.
- Initiate and set goals for public diplomacy programs according to the strategic objectives of the EMK Center.
- Liaison with the Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy, Dhaka for day-to-day operations and programs. Develop budgets and operations.
- Devise evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determine the need for improvements.
- Supervise all senior administrative, account, program, and project managers involved to provide feedback and resolve complex problems.
- Discover ways to enhance efficiency and productivity of procedures and people based on analysis of social and political change, assessment of trends, and youth-driven public interest.
- Ensure program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies.
- Keep stakeholders informed with detailed and accurate reports or presentations.
- Represent EMK Center in various forums.
- Coordinating and partnering with public and private sectors for impactful public diplomacy programs.
Requirement:
- Post-graduation or equivalent academic qualifications; candidates with U.S. degrees (undergraduate and/or graduate degrees) are preferred.
- At least two to three years of experience in a managerial position.
- Basic understanding of public diplomacy programs and outreach to youth audiences.
- Experience in audience analysis and strategic planning.
- Experience in project/program management techniques and methods.
- Experience in using performance evaluation techniques and key metrics.
- Experience in data analysis, reporting, and budgeting.
- Demonstrated cross-functional exposure in entrepreneurship, arts, promotion of rights, leadership, volunteerism, education, and emerging technologies
- Must be a Bangladeshi and/or U.S. citizen currently residing in Dhaka.
