Faking a divorce has become a trick in China as couples there are desperate to avoid the ban on mortgages and to obtain a bank loan for more property.

According to the property rules of the country, each member of the household will be entitled to 40 square meters of space, reports Bloomberg.

A family in the city of Lishui has taken the scam to extreme level with 23 divorces and weddings in a month.

A Chinese man named Pan remarried his ex-wife to allow her to qualify for the compensation plan.

Two weeks later, he divorced her and married his sister-in-law which gradually grew the family members to 13 people.

On information, the authorities arrested 11 of them.

According to data, home prices in Lishui have surged as much as 31% in the past two years.

The home buyers have to navigate a shifting array of property curbs case as it is an extreme case in property-obsessed China.
