Shashi Tharoor says citizenship bill to target Indian Muslims
The Indian politician, writer and a former career international diplomat marked today as a black day for the Indian constitution
Indian politician and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor said, "Today is a black day for our constitution because what happened was unconstitutional. It very clearly targets the Muslim community, it is very shameful."
The Lok Sabha today passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill with 311 votes in favour and 80 against.
However, the going might be tough in the Rajya Sabha, where the bill will be tabled next.
