Life of Bangladeshi people living under quarantine in India
They have been kept in quarantine 40km away from Delhi at an Indian air force camp
23 Bangladeshi people who were stuck in different cities in Hubei province in China because of the coronavirus outbreak, have now reached India.
They have been kept in quarantine 40km away from Delhi at an Indian air force camp.
Among the 23 Bangladeshis, 10 came from Xian, 9 from Jingmen and 4 from Yichang city. They were studying in various universities in those cities. They returned with the help of the Indian High Commission in Beijing.
When asked how they are doing, they said they have breakfast between 8 to 9 am. They are served luchi-vegetables/chola or bread-butter/jelly with milk tea.
They get a medical check-up after breakfast between 10-11am. After that they get to shower and eat lunch from 12:30 to 1:30pm while the cleaners clean their rooms.
After lunch they either sleep or play indoor games arranged by the authorities. They get tea and biscuits as an afternoon snack between 4-5pm, and then they spend their time either chatting or watching movies. Dinner is served between 8-9 pm. After dinner they watch movies and then go to sleep.
They also said there is a different floor for Bangladeshis. Each room accommodates two people. Males occupants live on one side while females live on the other. The Indian Air Force provides them daily necessities such as soap, hand wash, hand rub, water bottles, tissues, kettle, towels and more. Also there is a canteen where one can find other necessary things.
Regarding coming to India, they said they could not come directly to Bangladesh because of flight problems. So, they asked the Indian High Commission for help through their Indian classmates.
The Indian High Commission showed interest and helped them reach India. The students thanked the Indian government, Indian Air Force and Indian High Commission for helping them at such a crucial time.
On February 26, India sent a C-17 Globemaster aircraft of the Indian Air Force carrying goods to Wuhan to fight the challenge created by the outbreak. The aircraft returned to India carrying 76 Indians and 36 Bangladeshis.
India has evacuated citizens of seven countries. Among them 6 are from China, 23 from Bangladesh, 2 from the Maldives, 2 from Myanmar, 2 from South Africa, 1 from Madagascar and 1 from the US.
China locked down Wuhan after the coronavirus started spreading fast.
Three hundred and twelve Bangladeshis who had been stuck at Wuhan province in China were repatriated earlier.
