Today, Bhutan confirmed its first case of coronavirus in the country.

On Friday, Bhutan confirms country's first case of coronavirus. The patient is a 76 year old man from the United States who arrived in Bhutan on March 2 from Assam, India.

Prime Minister Lotay Tshering office confirmed this matter in a statement, reports NDTV.

The patient has been isolated in the designated COVID-19 hospital and kept in oxygen support considering his age and underlying conditions.

He was traveling with his partner, aged 59 along with 10 other passengers on board where 8 were Indians. All of the passengers along with the driver and guide who accompanied the couple are being quarantined.

The government is closely working with the Indian Embassy. Right now, the health officials are carrying out primary disease management and contact tracing. So far they have identified around 90 people who came in contact with them at various places of Bhutan including Paro Airport. They all are being provided medical services and asked to stay at home.
