Miss Mexico Andrea Meza has been crowned the Miss Universe 2021 on Sunday in Florida.
Andrea Meza, 26 is a software engineer who is the third Mexican woman to be crowned as Miss Universe, reports France 24.
Andrea Meza finished first ahead of the Brazilian and Peruvian finalists in the prestigious event hosted by American actor Mario Lopez and television personality Olivia Culpo.
Former Miss Universe contestants Cheslie Kryst, Paulina Vega and Demi-Leigh Tebow (who won the title in 2017) served as competition analysts and commentators, and a panel of eight women determined the winner.
Meza beat more than 70 contestants from around the globe in the 69th installment of Miss Universe, which was held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Who is Andrea Meza?
Along with being a model, Andrea Meza is also a software engineer who is quite vocal about gender disparities and gender violence.
She even made some hard-hitting statements during the pageant.
The 26-year-old was born on August 13 in Chihuahua City and is daughter to Alma Carmona and Santiago Meza.
She has two younger sisters and has Chinese ancestry. She graduated as a software engineer from the Autonomous University of Chihuahua in 2017.
