On Monday, actor Shamsunnahar Smrity, popularly known as Pori Moni, said she went to the Dhaka Boat Club in Beri Badh upon the request of her costume designer Omi, never doubting his vile intentions.
Talking to media, the renowned actress said, "I went there trusting Omi but could not leave despite my best efforts. They offered me coffee which I also rejected and said I would drink coffee some other time."
"But Omi again insisted me to stay for coffee," she said, adding, "I don't know if they had planned this act beforehand, but this should not have happened at any cost."
The accused has been caught, they can make many allegations but investigation will reveal the truth, she stated, adding, "I want justice with a proper investigation."
Earlier, the Detective Branch arrested businessman Nasiruddin Mahmood and Omi in a case filed for rape and attempts to murder the actor.
The detectives also detained three young women of a DJ group, with contraband yaba tablets, foreign liquor and beer, from Uttara.
Earlier in the day, Pori Moni filed a case against Nasiruddin, Omi, and four others with Savar Police Station over the incident. She filed the case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, and Penal Code 307.
Pori Moni, in a press conference on Sunday night alleged that Nasiruddin assaulted her and threatened to murder her at the Dhaka Boat Club on Wednesday night.
The incident took place on 8 June midnight when Pori Moni and her younger sister Boni, costume designer Omi, and some other companions went to the Dhaka Boat Club in the Beri Badh area of the capital's Savar.
Pori Moni said she was heading towards Uttara from her Banani residence around 11:30pm, but Omi tactfully took her to the club.
Somewhere along the way home, according to Pori Moni, Omi said he needed to stop at the Dhaka Boat Club for 2 minutes.
When they reached the club around 12:20am, it was closed. However, Omi talked with someone over phone and made arrangements to have the entrance of the club reopened.
At this time, he also tried in various ways to trick Pori Moni into entering the club.
At one stage, they entered the club and Boni went to the toilet beside the club bar.
As soon as she returned from the toilet, Nasiruddin Mahmud, former president of Uttara Club, appeared there and requested them (Pori Moni and Boni) to sit at the bar for a while and offered liquor and coffee.
When they refused, Nasiruddin turned violent and forced Pori Moni to drink liquor. He also touched her indecently.
Others present, including costume designer Jimmy, came forward but failed to save Pori Moni from the assault.
At one stage, she tried repeatedly to call 999, the national emergency hotline, but Nasiruddin snatched her phone away.
Pori Moni says some four people, including her costume designer Omi, abetted the assault by Nasiruddin.
Later, she somehow managed to get out of the club around 3 am and returned home with the help of others there in her company.
Pori Moni also said the accused are now intimidating and threatening her in various ways.
