The 19th edition of Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) will hold a retrospective of famous Iranian talented filmmaker, producer, screenwriter, and researcher Pouran Derakhshandeh.
This is a great opportunity for movie- lovers to watch her body of work as the film festival will screen films like "Under the Smoky Roof," "Hush.....Girls Don't Cry,", "Serial Dreams", "Little Bird of Happiness" and "The Eternal Kids" in the retrospective segment an important section of DIFF.
Pouran Derakhshandeh graduated in film-making in 1975 from Advanced School of Television and Cinema in Tehran and started her professional career by making documentary films for the television channels in Iran.
She received acclaims for her documentary, the "Plague." Derakhshandeh's other documentary and feature films established her as one of the leading female directors in Iran and her films have been making rounds at different international film festivals for the last two decades.
Over the years, retrospectives of Derakhshandeh's works were screened at various film festivals including Locarno International Film Festival, South Korea International Kids Film Festival, Bombay International Film Festival, International Fajr Film Festival, among others.
DIFF will take place both physically and virtually from January 16 to 24, 2021.
According to the organisers, necessary preparatory work in this regard is already underway. During the 19th DIFF, organizers expect to screen about 200 films, with participation from around 60 countries.
Organised by Rainbow Film Society, the Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) brings together film-makers, critics, and film lovers from all over the world, under one roof in Bangladesh.
