Poet Jasim Uddin’s 118th birth anniversary held in Faridpur
Jasim Uddin was born on this day in 1903 at his grandparent’s house in Domrakandi village of Kaijuri union in Faridpur Sadar upazila
The 118th birth anniversary of pastoral poet Jasim Uddin was celebrated in Faridpur in a befitting manner through various arrangements.
On Friday morning, district administration, Jasim Foundation, Faridpur Press Club, Faridpur Sahitya O Sanskriti Unnayan Sangstha, Ansharuddin High School, District Muktijoddha Sangsad and other social organisations laid wreaths on the poet's grave under the pomegranate tree in the yard of his ancestral house at Gobindpur village of Ambikapur union of Faridpur Sadar upazila.
Later, a discussion meeting was held under the chairmanship of Faridpur Additional Deputy Commissioner Deepak Kumar Roy.
Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarkar addressed the meeting as the chief guest.
Among others, Superintendent of Police Md Alimuzzaman, Deputy Director of Local Government Md Moniruzzaman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md Aslam Mollah, Sadar Upazila Executive Md Masum Reza, Sadar Upazila Chairman Md Abdur Razzak Mollah spoke on the occasion.
Milad mahfil was held at the end of the meeting.
Jasim Uddin was born on this day in 1903 at his grandparent's house in Domrakandi village of Kaijuri union in Faridpur Sadar upazila.
He died in Dhaka on 14 March 1976 at the age of 73.
