Department of Environment fined six organisations and one individual a total of Tk11.55 lakh for polluting environment and breaching law.
Chattogram range Director of the Department of Forest Mohammad Moyazzem Hossain passed the order after a hearing at the department on Monday, said a notice today.
Ehsan Re-rolling Mill in Chattogram was fined Tk10 lakh for air pollution, while Ekota Bricks Manufacture in Noakhali was fined Tk1 lakh for not renewing their environmental clearance certificate.
Imarok Bricks was fined Tk80,000 and three units of CP Bangladesh Limited got a fine of Tk70,000 for the same cause.
Md Sultan Ahmed from Cox's Bazar was accused of cutting down hill and was fined Tk50,000.
