Last year, Dhallywood could not keep up with viewers' expectations. However, since the start of the new decade, everyone has been quite optimistic. Many films set to be released this year have been carrying out the production work since last year. Here is a list of ten movies that might be worth considering this year.

Paap Punno

Following "Monpura" and "Swapnajaal", "Paap Punno" is going to be the third movie produced under the direction of Gias Uddin Selim. The success of "Monpura" has once again set the duo of Gias Uddin Selim and Chanchal Chowdhury to appear on the silver screen. Siam Ahmed, Afsana Mimi, and Shahnaz Sumi are also among the cast of the film. Keeping Valentine's Day in mind, the movie is set to be released in February. The film is produced by Impress Telefilm.

Bir

Being directed by Kazi Hayat and produced by Shakib Khan's production company SK Film, "Bir" has been the talk of the day ever since the shooting commenced last year. Shabnom Bubly will be playing the role opposite to Shakib Khan. Misha Saudagar is also among the cast of "Bir". The movie is set to be released in March. Taking everything into consideration, it can be said that "Bir" can revamp Dhallywood commercially in 2020.

Mission Extreme

"Dhaka Attack" was Dhallywood's favourite movie of 2017. The crew of "Mission Extreme" is the same as "Dhaka Attack" except the director; the writer of "Dhaka Attack" Sunny Sanowar and assistant director Faisal Ahmed are currently operating as directors of "Mission Extreme". Being directed under the banner of Cop Creation, "Mission Extreme" is the second movie based on the police action-thriller genre. Arefin Shuvo is playing the lead role against Jannatul Ferdous Oishee for the first time. Alongside the leads, Taskin Rahman, Sadia Nabil and many others have played important roles in this film. The directors said the movie will be released on the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

Operation Sundarbans

Director Dipankar Dipon came into spotlight after making "Dhaka Attack". This time, with the help of RAB, he is directing "Operation Sundarbans". In addition to Sundarbans' biodiversity, various activities carried out by RAB to suppress pirates in the Sundarbans will be portrayed in this movie. Riaz, Siam, Roshan, Nusrat Faria, and many more are among the cast of Dipon's "Operation Sundarbans". The shooting is going on now and the director said the movie is set to be released this year.

No Land's Man

Renowned director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's much-talked-about film "No Land's Man" has not only generated hype in Bangladesh, but it has also made headlines on international media as it is set to be the first English language movie directed by Farooki. Apart from acting as the lead character, Bollywood's maestro Nawazuddin Siddiqui is also the producer of this film. Australian actress Michelle Megan is playing the female lead role. Alongside, Bangladesh's popular singer-actor Tahsan is also among the cast of "No Land's Man". Farooki has returned home from the shooting that took place in the USA and Australia recently. After being displayed at various film festivals worldwide, the film is set to be released this year.

Hawa

Popular advertisement and drama producer Mejbauer Rahman Sumon started shooting for his debut film "Hawa" last October. Chanchal Chowdhury, Nazifa Tushi, Shariful Raj, and many others are among the cast of this movie. Most of the shooting took place in St Martin's Island and the Bay of Bengal. The producers have said that "Hawa" is set to be released on October or November this year.

Casino

This is Bubbly's first movie without Shakib Khan as the opposing role. Nirob is playing the male lead role in this film. "Casino" is being directed by Saikat Nasir who gained recognition with his pilot movie "Desha: The Leader". This movie has been in discussions for various reasons since the beginning. The audience waits to see Bubly's romantic role against Nirob, also her first performance without Shakib Khan. Tasking might be making a few surprise appearances in this movie. The producers say "Casion" might be released in March.

Gondi

Fakhrul Arefin Khan started directing "Gondi" last year. West Bengal's renowned Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Bangladesh's Suborna Mustafa duo is one of the main attractions of this movie. The film's shooting took place in London, Dhaka, and Cox's Bazar. Majnun Mizan, Aparna Ghosh, and many more are among the cast of this film. Recently, "Gondi" has received uncut censor clearance and the director said the film is set to be released in February.

Shaan

"Shan" is set to be the debut of director M Rahim in Dhallywood. Prior to this, Rahim worked as an assistant director in "PoraMon 2" and "Dahan". He has worked with Kolkata's renowned director Raj Chakraborty before. Siam, Taskin, Puja Cherry Roy, and many more are among the cast of "Shaan". Most of the shooting is done, the shooting of the songs is yet to take place. It is said that a special surprise awaits to pop-up in the playback of the movie. One of the Bollywood's most popular singer might be singing in the movie. This action-thriller film is set to be released on Eid-ul-Fitr.

Shoshur Bari Zindabad 2

Debashish Biswas, the director of "Shoshur Bari Zindabad 2", has been working on this movie for many years. Apu Biswas and Bappi Chowdhury have played the lead roles in the film. This film is being produced by Bengal Multimedia. Most of the shooting was completed last year, only the shooting of the songs remained which was recently finished as well. The film might be released in the middle of this year.
