Equity indices both the stock exchanges reported gains today after the bourses hobbled following a bout of profit-taking on Monday.

During the first hour of the trading session today, DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), rose by 0.65% or 39 points to 6,030.

DSE turnover, however, fell by 6% to Tk468.55 crore till 11 am.

NRBC Bank secured the apex position on the DSE turnover followed by BD Finance and AB Bank.

DSE had only 196 gainers against 90 losers, while prices of 57 scrips remained unchanged in the corresponding period.

Pragati Insurance share was the top gainer with 12.49% price hike as the company decided to pay a 30% cash dividend to the shareholders for the past year, which has been the highest payout in the last five years. Besides, Al-Haj Textile secured the second position with 9.89% gains as the company decided to open its factory after two years.

Meanwhile, MBL First Mutual Fund and AIBL First Mutual Fund endured their worst run today.

The benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) gained 107 points to 17,467 till 11 am.
