Stocks open mixed despite reported surge in insurance sector
Shares of United Insurance, Dhaka Insurance and Purabi General Insurance reported the highest price hike of above 9% till 11 am
Equity indices of both the stock exchanges witnessed mixed performances although the insurance sector saw rising share prices amid the investors' selling pressure in the first hour of the trading session on Thursday.
Besides, the shares of United Insurance, Dhaka Insurance and Purabi General Insurance reported the highest price hike of above 9% till 11 am.
DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), rose by 0.08% or 4.85 points to 5,428 till 11 am, while the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) benchmark index CASPI lost 15 points to 15,695.
Meanwhile, DSE turnover, a major market indicator, rose by 18% to Tk373.40 crore.
Beximco Limited secured the apex position on the DSE turnover chart in the corresponding period .
Out of the 339 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 129 gainers against 135 losers, while prices of 75 scrips remained unchanged.
