Equity indices of both the stock exchanges reported gains as most of the companies' share prices rose, especially those in the bank and mutual fund sectors, during the first hour of the trading session on Wednesday.

DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), rose by 0.99% or 55 points to 5,590 till 11:00 am.

DSE turnover rose by 6%% to Tk651.52 crore in the corresponding period.

During this session, DSE had 225 gainers against 68 losers, while prices of 48 scrips remained unchanged. Beximco Limited secured the apex position on the DSE turnover chart.

Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) gained 156 points to 16,147.
