Stocks down amid investors’ selling pressure

DSEX dropped 15.75 points or 0.31% to 5,037 and CASPI lost 57 points to 14,439 till 11:30 am

Equity indices of the stock exchanges witnessed a downward trend amid investors' selling pressure due to quick profit-booking in the first one-and-half-hour trading session on Tuesday.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), dropped 15.75 points or 0.31% to 5,037 till 11:30 am.

Moreover, DSE Shariah-based DSES index declined 21 points to 1,157 and blue-chip index DS30 fell 6.48 points to 1,756. 

Turnover, a major indicator of the market, on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) trading floor, fell by 18% to Tk267.48 crore in the corresponding period. 

Out of the 348 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 133 gainers against 127 losers, while prices of 88 scrips remained unchanged.

Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) lost 57 points to 14,439.

Of the total 175 issues traded till then, 60 gained, 76 declined, and 39 issues remained unchanged with Tk12.3 crore in turnover.
