Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has organised a road-show titled "The Rise of Bengal Tiger: Potentials of Bangladesh Capital Markets" at the Park Hyatt of Dubai to reach out to non-resident Bangladeshi (NRB) investors and to attract foreign investment in Bangladesh on Tuesday.  

The Investor Summit and road-show has been sponsored by UCB Stock Brokerage Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of United Commercial Bank Limited, said a press release. 

The road-show is taking place in the Creek ballroom of Park Hyatt, Dubai. There have been two sessions hosted on the inaugural day.

This investor summit which will be continued till 12 February is expected to increase the market participation of foreign and NRB investors in the Bangladesh capital market. 

The Chairman of BSEC, Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam chaired the road-show highlighting the important role of the capital market for raising long term funds through bond and sukuk to solve the maturity mismatch problem long prevailing in our banking sector.

Minister of Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury was the chief guest of this programme and thanked the NRBs for their great role and contribution in Bangladesh economy and also termed them as "Golden son of the country".

State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Zahid Ahsan Russell attended the event as the Special Guest. 

The Chairman of the Executive Committee of United Commercial Bank Limited, Anisuzzaman Chowdhury attended as the Special Guest and thanked the current government, as well as the new Commission for their relentless efforts in achieving stricter implementation of regulations in the capital market.  

Arif Khan, CEO, IDLC,  CEO of UCB Stock Brokerage Limited Mohammad Rahmat Pasha,  Director of DSE Professor Md. Masudur Rahman, Chaiman of Al Haramain Group & President of NRB Association Mohammed Mahtabur Rahman, Executive Director of BSEC Mahbubul Alam, BMBA president Sayedur Rahman, COO of DSE M Shaifur Rahman Mazumder, MD of Midway Securities Ashekur Rahman,  CEO & Director of Lanka Bangla Securities Khandoker Saffat Reza were present as speakers or panellists at the various sessions.

Various high officials of BSEC including Commissioner Khondoker Kamaluzzaman have also been present. Moreover, Iqbal Hossain Khan, the Consul General of Dubai, UAE and Dr Nahid Hossain, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance also attended. From United Commercial Bank Limited, Asifuzzaman Chowdhury, Director, Dr. Md. Jonaid Shafiq, Director; Bashir Ahmed, Director; Shekh Mohammad Rashedul Hasan, CEO, UCB Asset Management Limited; Tanzim Alamgir, CEO, UCB Investment Limited; and some top officials have attended the road-show and investor summit. A number of senior dignitaries from various communities of Dubai have also been present in the road-show.
