Singapore Airlines starts Airbus A350-900 flights in Dhaka
The aircraft made its inaugural flight from Dhaka to Singapore on February 1, 2020
Singapore Airlines has started its service of Airbus A350-900 medium-haul aircraft for the first time in Bangladesh, according to a press release issued today.
The aircraft made its inaugural flight from Dhaka to Singapore on February 1, 2020. It entered in service as SQ446 and the return flight from Dhaka to Singapore was SQ447.
George Robertson, general manager in Bangladesh of the airlines made the boarding announcement during the inaugural flight of the aircraft.
Featuring new regional Business Class and Economy Class cabin products, the A350-900 medium-haul Business Class cabin has 40 seats in a 1-2-1 arrangement that ensures direct aisle access for every customer.
The Economy Class cabin has 263 seats arranged in a comfortable 3-3-3 configuration, reads the press release.
The A350-900 is fitted with the latest Thales AVANT inflight entertainment system that will help the passengers to enjoy Singapore Airlines' myKrisWorld personalized in-flight entertainment feature.
Furthermore, the passengers will have access to a high-speed in-flight WiFi service on board.
On this occasion, George Robertson, General Manager Bangladesh, Singapore Airlines, said, "We have been flying to and from Bangladesh region for 34 years, and over that time we have invested heavily to ensure that our customers are provided with more flights, better products, and greater options."
So, today, we are delighted to launch Airbus A350-900 in Bangladesh for the first time, he added.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Md Mahbub Ali, State Minister, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism as the Chief Guest along with Chairman, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, Member Operations and Planning, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, Air Commodore Md Khalid Hossain, Singapore Consul, William Chik, Director, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul Ahsan and Chief of Armed Police Battalion, Mosharaf Hossain.
Md Mahbub Ali, State Minister, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, commented, "Singapore is a leading investor in Bangladesh. The relationship between our nations has further been strengthened in recent years due to the interactions and initiatives undertaken at various governmental and private levels."
There are many avenues of cooperation for both Singapore Airlines and us to discover for the betterment of the aviation sector as well as our business sector, he added.
He also wished all success to the Singapore Airlines.
Senior officials from Singapore Airlines, including Kunjie Lim, Station Manager and Rifat Kader, Head of Sales & Marketing, among others were present at the ceremony.
