77 highest taxpayers here to be honoured

The Khulna taxes zone has realised Tk 2,400 crore income tax revenue in the fiscal year 2018-19 which is 32 percent higher than that in the previous year.

In the fiscal year 2019-20, in the first quarter Tk 629 crore income tax revenue has been collected which is 15 percent higher than the target for this period. The target of Tk 2,840 crore tax has been set for the current fiscal year.

77 highest taxpayers will be honoured for their outstanding contribution to the national exchequer in the last fiscal year in different categories.

The information was revealed in a view-exchange meeting of the tax officials with the media persons at Tax Building Monday (November 11) noon on the occasion of the Income Tax Fair and the best taxpayers' honour giving ceremony.

A week-long Income Tax Fair to be held in the Khulna city from November 14-20 with the aim of ensuring realisation of tax in an easy, hassle-free and festive atmosphere. There will be 42 stalls at Khulna Divisional Women Sports Complex.

All services, including submission of income tax returns, receiving new TIN registration, will be in the stalls. Bank booths will also be at the fair venue. 

The meeting was also told that already more than 34,000 new taxpayers have collected their TIN registration against the target of 24,000 new taxpayers.  

With this, the number of total TIN-holders in Khulna taxes zone stood at about 3.65 lakh.

At a function to be held at City Inn Hotel, Khulna on Wednesday (November 13), 77 persons will be honoured under different categories. Such as the highest taxpayer, highest young taxpayer, highest woman taxpayer and the person paying tax for the longest period.

The taxpayers selected for conferring honour are Md Abu Bakar Sheikh, Syed Abu Naser, Khan Saiful Islam, Md Abdul Hamid Sarder, SM Moniruzzaman Shahin, Kazi Sanwar Hossain and Ms Sabitri Agarwala from Khulna City Corporation area. 

Md Abdul Majid Sana, Md Anwar Iqbal, Ziaul Ahsan, Md Shamim Ahsan, Sheikh Ibadat Hossain, Md Nur-e- Alam Siddiqui and Ms Laila Akter have been chosen from Khulna tax zone.

Biswajit Sadhu, Md Abu Hasan, Md Akkaj Ali, Md Ashiqur Rahman (Ashique), Dipankar Kumar Ghosh, Golam Akbar and Ms Nilufa Yasmin  have been nominated from Satkhira tax zone.

Goura Chandra Saha, Ms Lipika Rani Das, Ram Krishna Basu, Md Mostafizur Rahman, Mir Rahmat Ali, Md Eklasur Rahman and Ms Popy Akter have been selected from Bagerhat tax zone.

Md Golam Morshed, Md Ansari Hossain Sohel, Nimai Chandra Dutta, Md Nur Hossain, Abu Naser Sarker, Md Toufiqur Rahman and Ms Raffat Ara Dolly have been chosen from Jashore tax zone.

From Kushtia tax zone Md Ibadat Ali, Md Mojibur Rahman, Md Mofidul Islam Khan, Md Parvez Rahmana, Ms Selima Begum, Md Ziaul Haque and Ms Parveen Rahman have been selected.

In Magura tax zone, Khondkar Amir Hossain, Md Shahinur Rahman Piklu, Md Shamsul Haque, Maqbul Hasan Makul, Md Mehedi Hasan Russel, Md Faisal Ahammed and Dr Suparna Ahmed have been chosen for the award.

In Narail tax zone, Md Humayun Kabir, MM Rezaul Alam, Azizur Rahman Bhuiyan, Md Wahiduzzaman, Zahidul Islam, Md Imdadul Islam and Ms Umme Rezwana have been selected.

From Jhenaidah tax zone, Syed Shahjahan Ali, Md Mizaur Rahman Liton, Md Fazlul Karim Mintu, Nikhil Kumar Paul, Shamim Hossain Mollah, Md Rashidur Rahman and Dr Mst Marfia Khatun have been chosen.

In Chuadanga tax zone, Md Shahidul Haque Mollah, Dilip Kumar Agarwala, Md Khorshed Alam, Ms Sabita Agarwala, Ms Saifunnahar Akter Shammi, Abu Taher Md Hasanuzzaman and Ms Akteri Joarder have been selected.

From Meherpur tax zone, Md Giasuddin, Ajay Surekha, Md Abul Kashem, Md Abdul Hannan, Md Abdus Samad Biswas, Md Arif Sheikh and Ms Hamida Khanam have been chosen.

The meeting was also told that Tk 42 crore 8 lakh 14 thousand 246 revenue was realised at the Income Tax Fair for 2018 in Khulna taxes zone while 1,453 new taxpayers submitted their tax returns.

Besides divisional city Khulna, similar tax fairs will be held in the other nine districts and six upazilas.

Prashanta Kumar Roy, tax commissioner of Khulna taxes zone told the meeting, the tax department is not an opponent of the taxpayers rather it is their friend.  Khulna tax department also wants to be friend of the taxpayers.  Through paying tax, a taxpayer contributes to the development of the country and also legality of their wealth is ensured.
