AKM Ziaul Hasan Khan, the chief regulatory officer (CRO) of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has resigned because of illness.
He emailed the resignation letter to the DSE on Saturday, which is under consideration, said DSE Director Rakibur Rahman.
Ziaul Hasan Khan is currently undergoing treatment in the United States. Previously, he went to India for treatment.
He has been on leave since the beginning of December last year. For an affordable treatment in the US, he needs an urgent health insurance policy, and the resignation is a part of the process, said another DSE official.
Ziaul Hasan Khan, a chartered accountant, also a former BSEC official, joined the DSE as the CRO in April 2014 under a three-year contract, which was renewed for another term.
His second term was scheduled to end in next April.
But the resignation will be effective from January 15, 2020.
