Le Méridien Dhaka, a leading 5 star hotel, has issued a statement refuting a false story of its president's wife's death.

A false story broke on various news channels in the last 24 hours that she had passed away, reads a press release.

The hotel's concerned authority confirmed that Mrs Tasnuva Islam Asha; wife of its president Hasan Ahmad is alive and well.

A spokesman for the hotel commented that a mixup in names for a recently deceased member of the family of the owners of the hotel had led to this misinformation coming out in the media.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the deceased during this difficult time," said the spokesman.
