foodpanda onboards 1st batch of transgender riders
Initially, foodpanda onboarded 20 riders in Chattogram and Dhaka
In a bid to empower transgender communities across the country, online food delivery platform foodpanda has trained the first batch of its transgender riders and equipped them with bicycles and smartphones.
In collaboration with TransEnd, an organisation dedicated to empowering members of Bangladeshi transgender community, foodpanda distributed delivery gears among nearly two dozen transgender riders on Thursday, reads a press statement.
Initially, foodpanda onboarded 20 riders in Chattogram and Dhaka. Besides, several other members of the transgender community have already been working as warehouse staff in foodpanda's pandamart dark stores.
TransEnd facilitated the whole process, along with supporting foodpanda in hiring and training the riders.
The riders were trained for several weeks and provided with proper delivery gears so they can work proudly and independently as foodpanda riders.
