Transactions at Mercantile Bank to remain suspended for 5 days
The central bank approved the closure of transactions from 17 to 21 February
Banking activities at Mercantile Bank will remain suspended for five days starting from 17 February due to the transfer of the data centre, said Bangladesh Bank.
The approval was given by the central bank in response to an application of Mercantile Bank, says a circular issued on Thursday by the Department of Off-Site Supervision of the Bangladesh Bank.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Public Relations Officer of Mercantile Bank Abdul Hamid Sohag said, "All transactions will be closed for those five days."
Out of the five days, February 17 and 18 are working days and the remaining three days fall on Friday, Saturday, and the Language Martyrs' Day.
Employees of the bank will be in the office during the working days, said Abdul Hamid.
"However, all services including ATM, online and mobile banking will be closed," he added.
