Eminent business person and social worker Monzurur Rahman has been elected chairman of the board of directors of Pubali Bank Ltd.
He was elected unanimously in the 1247th board meeting of the private lender, says a press release.
Earlier, he was a member of the board of directors and chairman of the executive committee of the bank.
Monzurur Rahman is the chairman of Rema Tea Company Ltd and an independent director of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Ltd.
He was an elected member of the executive committee of the Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed Companies.
He has 53 years of experience in banking, insurance and the tea business.
Monzurur Rahman is a graduate of the University of Calcutta. He was born to a noble Muslim family in Kazibari at Cheora village in Cumilla.
His father, late Khan Bahadur Mukhlesur Rahman, was a law graduate from the University of Calcutta in 1916 and a successful tea planter.
