Mercantile Bank to start Islamic banking operations soon
The decision was taken at the first meeting of the bank’s Shariah Supervisory Committee
The Mercantile Bank has decided to commence its Islamic banking window operations at the earliest in the name of "Taqwa" at the first meeting of the bank's Shariah Supervisory Committee held on Sunday, says a press release.
Morshed Alam, chairman of Shariah Supervisory Committee and board of directors of the bank, presided over the meeting arranged at the bank's headquarters in Dilkusha in the capital.
Among other members of the committee Al-Haj Akram Hossain Humayun, AKM Shaheed Reza, MA Khan Belal and Mawlana Shah Mohammad Wali Ullah were present at the meeting alongside Md Quamrul Islam Chowdhury, managing director and chief executive officer of the bank.
Mati Ul Hasan, additional managing director and Syed Murtaza Hassan, head of Islamic Banking Division and senior vice president also attended the meeting.
