Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) incorporated the Bangla QR payment into its banking app EBL Skybanking on Wednesday, says a press statement.
EBL is the first bank in the country to join VISA in this project.

With the introduction of this new service, EBL customers can now make zero contact payments at various merchant points including, hotels, restaurants, groceries, pharmacies and many others using their EBL Visa cards in the EBL Skybanking app.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, this Bangla QR Payment solution will ensure EBL customers to make contactless payments across various merchant points, the press statement reads.

Ali Reza Iftekhar, managing director of EBL, said, "Being a leading financial institution of the country, it is our responsibility to take care of our customers and innovate ways to maintain health protocols prescribed by the government to Bangladesh and WHO and join the fight against Covid-19."

"The introduction of the zero contact payment system is the need of this hour. QR Payment will play a key role in ensuring contactless payments and secure transactions at a time when customers' banking habit is changing. This method of payment will also attract one of our youth," he added.
