Eastern Bank Ltd (EBL) will sponsor the 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Dhaka Marathon-2021,' due to be held in Dhaka on 10 January next year.

Confirming the sponsorship, Ali Reza Iftekhar, Managing Director and CEO of EBL handed over a cheque to Md Main Uddin, ndc, psc, G, Chairman of Army Sports Control Board (ASCB) on Wednesday, reads a press release.

Bangladesh Army is organising this international mega event  as part of the 'MujibBorsho' celebration, it added.

Regarding the sponsorship, Iftekhar said, "We are proud to be associated with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Dhaka Marathon-2021. This mega event will be a tribute to our father of the nation, who was a great sports enthusiast himself. This event will have a long lasting impact to the development of our sports."

The grand event will feature a full marathon participated by a total of 100 professional runners and around 40 of them will be elite runner from international mainstream.

Besides, there will also be a half marathon attended by a total of 100 Bangladeshi runners.
