Head of HR of BRAC Bank Akhteruddin Mahmood said, "BRAC Bank has contributed BDT 35.3 million to acknowledge 62 of its people who were infected by Covid-19 during that time frame.”
BRAC Bank has recognized 62 of its employees who performed at the forefront and back-office, and served its customers during coronavirus pandemic.
Brac Bank made the announcement via a press release issued by the bank on Wednesday.
In its BRPD Circular Letter No 18, Bangladesh Bank had directed all the scheduled banks to provide special healthcare insurance and grant-in-aid to the frontline employees who were infected with Covid-19 while performing their duties during the government-declared general holidays in 2020.
Head of HR of BRAC Bank Akhteruddin Mahmood said, "BRAC Bank has contributed BDT 35.3 million to acknowledge 62 of its employees who were infected by Covid-19 during that time frame."
"Unfortunately, one among the 62 employees could not survive the Covid impact. The family was compensated in December 2020 with five-times of the allocated fund for the employee as per the BRPD circular," added Mahmood.
Managing director and CEO of BRAC Bank Selim RF Hussain said, "We are proud to have such valiant front-liners among us. We have come this far and resurged from that difficult time because of the courage, commitment, and valor of these people who provided uninterrupted service to our valued customers in a time the entire world closed down. We express our heartfelt gratitude to them."
As a values-based financial institution, BRAC Bank's Health Insurance Policy also covered the cost of treatment for the employees who were infected by Covid-19.
