Banks to remain open from 10am to 3:30pm amid lockdown
The department of off-site supervision of Bangladesh Bank issued a circular in this regard today
Banks will operate services for an additional 30 minutes from 10am to 3:30pm during the ongoing lockdown until 15 July.
Besides, bank officials will have to conclude their daily operations by 5pm, according to a circular issued by the department of off-site supervision of Bangladesh Bank today.
All other instructions of the circular that was issued on 13 April will remain in place except the change in the time limit of bank transactions, the latest circular said.
The previous circular stated banking service will be operated on limited scale using fewer manpower, excluding government and weekly holidays.
During the restrictions, head offices, district branches and authorised dealer branches will remain open, the circular said, adding that each branch within a radius of two kilometres in the city corporation areas will also remain open (If the authorised dealer branch remains closed).
Besides, in upazila level one branch of banks will have to remain open on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday every week.
Moreover, all branches and booths situated in airport and seaport areas will keep open 24/7 following the health protocols.
The central bank also instructed to ensure enough cash at the bank booths to avoid any scarcity.
Per day transaction limit at booths were also extended up to Tk1 lakh and mobile banking agents were also asked to keep adequate amount of cash. Non-banking financial organisations will also follow the time frame along with the banks until 15 July.
