Sonali Bank launches online payment gateway

Sonali Bank Limited has launched Sonali Payment Gateway, an online payment service, in a bid to make the financial transaction easier.

On the occasion, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Sonali Bank and the Office of the Chief Controller of Imports and Exports, to facilitate the e-payment service.
Suleman Khan, the Chief Controller of Imports and Exports, and Suvas Chanda Das, chief financial officer of Sonali Bank, signed the deal on behalf of their respective organisations.
Lauding the initiative, the commerce minister said Bangladesh is moving fast on the Ease of Doing Business Index by ensuring digital services in different sectors, says Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi.
Minister Tipu Munshi also noted that businesses have now been easier in the country. Most of the official activities, including that of the commerce ministry, are being conducted through digital means.
About the Sonali Payment, the minister said different charges related to trades can now be paid online using the online payment gateway of Sonali Bank Limited.
Through the Sonali Payment Gateway, online payments can be made with help of different mobile financial services and debit-credit cards. At the same time, the clients can complete their cash on counter and online account transfers services.
Dr Md Jafar Uddin, secretary to the commerce ministry, addressed the programme as special guest in presence of other senior officials.
