Shafiqur Rahman appointed Biman CEO, MD
Shafiqur joined Biman Bangladesh as a trainee commercial officer in 1986 and retired in 2017 after serving the national flag carried in various roles
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has appointed its former director (Marketing and Sales) Md Shafiqur Rahman as its new managing director and chief executive officer.
The new board of directors of Biman, led by former secretary and former advisor of the caretaker government Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, appointed Shafiqur to the post today (4 September), reads a press statement.
Shafiqur joined Biman Bangladesh as a trainee commercial officer in 1986. He later served the national flag carrier as director of Administration & Human Resources, director of Procurement & Logistics Support, and director of Marketing & Sales.
He also worked in tariff, market research, reservation, cargo, and other departments of the airline.
Besides, he served as the country manager of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in Singapore, Thailand, and Greece stations. He retired in 2017 after a long career.
