State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali Wednesday said the government has taken an initiative to introduce flights on Sylhet-Cox's Bazar-Chattogram route by June next.

He came up with the announcement while speaking at a view-exchange meeting with leaders of the Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry at a city hotel.

Speaking as the chief guest, Mahbub said Sylhet is a tourism-enriched area and that is why the government has taken various initiatives to flourish tourism in Sylhet region.

He said the runway expansion work of Sylhet Osmani International Airport is underway while works are going on to make Saidpur airport an international one.

The state minister said five more flights will be added to the fleet of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in June next.
