Five traffic helpers from Biman Bangladesh Airlines have been arrested for stealing 6,800-euro worth Tk 9.1 lakh from a passenger's baggage on a flight from Dhaka to Chennai, India.

According to Biman sources, the theft occurred on 2 August when the passenger discovered the foreign currency missing upon arriving in Chennai. The passenger immediately filed a written complaint. Following an internal investigation by Biman's security department, six staff members working as traffic helpers at Dhaka airport were identified as being involved in the theft. The suspects later confessed to their roles in the crime.
Later, Biman lodged a report with Dhaka Airport Police Station regarding this matter. Five individuals were taken into custody in relation to the theft. The remaining person involved in the incident is on the run.
The airline has assured that law enforcement agencies are working to recover the stolen money and return it to the passenger. In addition, Biman has urged passengers to avoid placing valuables, including money and jewellery, in checked luggage and to keep such items in carry-on bags for added security.
