3 Chattogram-bound flights diverted to Kolkata due to dense fog

Three flights were forced to land in Kolkata Airport due to dense fog at Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport.

No international and inbound flights could land at Shah Amanat International Airport from 8am today.

Speaking to The Business Standard, Kazi Khairul Kabir, air traffic officer of Shah Amanat International Airport, said, "Three international flights landed at Kolkata airport due to heavy fog.

Besides, there was no inbound flight from Dhaka till 10am. However, the fog subsided around 10:15am and the situation slowly returned to normal."

The airport authorities informed, three flights of US Bangla, Regent Airways and Air Arabia from Doha, Muscat and Sharjah, respectively, failed to land at the Chattogram airport due to density of the fog. As a result, all the flights were diverted to land at the Kolkata airport.

Additionally, Flight No 122 of Biman Bangladesh from Mascot left for Kolkata yesterday from Shah Amanat International Airport after failing to land at the Chattogram airport due to the heavy fog.
