Tk372cr disbursed in incentives to 57 lakh farmers: Agriculture Ministry
Tk112 crore was spent on compensation for the damage caused by Covid-19 and flooding

The Ministry of Agriculture has disbursed Tk372 crore in incentives, among farmers nationwide, to cover the damages caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and floods, as well as maintain continuity of production.
A total 57 lakh farmers have received incentives, so far, in fiscal year 2020-21, the ministry said in a press statement on Monday.
Also, the incentives package has covered a total of 7,81,487.6033 acres of land.
The package includes various agricultural inputs such as: seeds, seedlings, fertilisers, etc. It is distributed from the regular budget of the Ministry of Agriculture for the allocation of the agricultural rehabilitation assistance sector.
Out of Tk362 crore, Tk112 crore was spent on compensation for the damage caused by Covid-19 and flooding. Incentives of Tk90 crore were given to increase the production of masakalai, mug, sunflower, mustard, and maize in Rabi season.
In addition, incentives of Tk136 crore have been distributed for free seed support to increase the planting and production of boro paddy, Tk25 crore for increasing onion production and Tk9 crore for simultaneous hybrid boro paddy cultivation in 61 districts.
