Mango harvesting in Rajshahi to begin on May 15
The Deputy Commissioner of the district urged the farmers not to be worried about the marketing of mangoes adding that “the government will support on transportation and marketing”
The harvest of mango in Rajshahi will begin from May 15 as per a gazette signed by the Deputy Commissioner of the district Md Hamidul Haque on May 8.
The administration has fixed the date to stop mango collection at an inopportune time.
As per the decision, all kind of Guti variety of mango can be collected from May 15 while the harvest of Gopalbhog variety will start on May 20.
The harvest date for Ranipasand and Laxmanbhog varieties was fixed on May 25, Himsagar or Khirsapat on May 28, Langra on June 6, Amrapali and Fazli on June 15, and Ashwina along with Bari mango on July 10 respectively.
"The administration will be in a tough position to stop the marketing of unripe mangoes. Also, mango will be collected at the specified time by proper monitoring," said Md Hamidul Haque, deputy commissioner of Rajshahi.
