With a view to expediting Boro harvesting, 19 combine harvester and four ripper machines were allotted in the district

Government has given a subsidy of Taka 2 crore 44 lakh and 10 thousand for purchasing combine harvesters and ripper machines in the district this season, officials said.

Department of agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said with a view to expediting Boro harvesting, 19 combine harvester and four ripper machines were allotted in the district.

Of the harvester machines, 3 combine harvesters were allotted for Jamalpur Sadar Upazila, 2 for Sarishabari, 5 for Islampur, 1 for Dewanganj, 5 for Melandaha, 2 for Bakshiganj and 1 for Madarganj Upazila, they said.

Meanwhile, one ripper machine was allotted for Islampur, Dewanganj, Melandaha and Bakshiganj Upazila each.

DAE's agriculture engineer Shibani Rani Nath said agriculture department has begun distribution of machineries among the farmers.
