CUFL resumes production after one year
CUFL halted production due to mechanical defects on March 20, last year
Chattogram Urea Fertiliser Factory Limited (CUFL) resumed its production after one year.
Managing director of CUFL Engineer Sudip Majumder said, "The production in the factory restarted on Friday night."
"CUFL halted production due to mechanical defects on March 20, last year. Then, a US company worked for a year to fix the problem. The factory was reopened on March 20 after the end of repairing," he added.
"The annual fertilizer production capacity of CUFL is 5.61 lakh metric tonnes. But, at present 30 to 32 metric tonnes of fertiliser can be produced per hour," the CUFL engineer said, adding, "Production of fertilizers would be increased up to 60 to 65 metric tonnes per hour when the production restarts with the full capacity."
In October 29, 1987, the factory began its journey at Anwara, on the southern bank of the Karnaphuli River by the technical support of Japan's Toyo Engineering Corporation.
