Dateline Bhola: Bulbul destroys 50 houses, injures 15
Various crops in the district, including paddy fields, were severely damaged.
At least 50 houses were destroyed and hundreds of plants were uprooted in the cyclonic storm of Bulbul, injuring 15 people, in Lalmohan and Char Fasson upazila of Bhola around 9pm yesterday.
Abdur Rashid Mal and his sons Imran and Tishan, residents of Ward 4 of West Char Umed, are among the injured from the area.
A resident of West Char Umed union Ibrahim said, "The tin-shed houses of two people, including Abdur Rashid's roof, were blown away from impact of the wind. Many trees were also uprooted during this time."
Additionally, various crops in the district, including paddy fields, were severely damaged.
Sajeda Begum, Tarek, Arif, Sharif and Mostafiz of Char Pyarimohan village of Lord Hardinge union of the same upazila were injured during the storm. Some of them have been admitted to Char Fasson Upazila Health Complex. Among them, Tarek is in critical condition.
Anwar Rabbi, a resident and journalist of Lord Hardinge union of Lalamohan Upazila, said, "Around fifteen people were injured after around ten houses were wrecked during the havoc caused by the storm in Char Pyarimohan village of the union."
Mahbub Alam Khokon, chairman of the Awazpur union of Char Fasson upazila, said, "Seven houses in wards four, six and eight of the union were destroyed around 9pm from the storm."
Habibur Hassan Rumi, Executive Officer of Lalmohan upazila said, "At least thirty houses were demolished and several were injured. Uprooted trees that fell on the roads are being removed since morning."
