The authorities have decided to vaccinate university students with Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine doses received as a gift from the Chinese government, said Dr Md Robed Amin, spokesperson of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

"We have already received five lakh doses of Sinopharm vaccine from China as a gift and hope to get another six lakh doses soon. We will start a vaccination drive for university students soon after receiving those vaccines from China," he said at a virtual health bulletin organised by the DGHS on Sunday noon.

The Sinopharm shots will be given on a priority basis among those university students who's exams are fast approaching, the official added.
