United group has built an emergency isolation centre in Munshiganj where coronavirus patients can be treated

United Group, one of the largest socio-economic infrastructure-based business houses of Bangladesh, has donated Tk 5 crore to the Prime Minister's relief and welfare fund to help the government combat the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Hasan Mahmood Raja and Moinuddin Hasan Rashid, chairman and managing director of United Group respectively, handed over the cheque to Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, principal secretary to the prime minister on Sunday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the ceremony through video conferencing from Ganabhaban.

The Prime Minister thanked United Group for its contribution to the relief and welfare fund.

United group has built an emergency isolation centre in Munshiganj where coronavirus patients can be treated.

Moinuddin Hasan Rashid told The Business Standard, "We have begun with around two dozens of beds. We are praying not to see any situation for capacity expansion for treatment."

Moinuddin, however, added they had open spaces there and preparation for setting up more than 1,000 beds if Covid-19 outbreak goes out of control.
