Sylhet mayor Arif’s wife tests positive for Covid-19

Shama Haque Chowdhury, the wife of Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, has been tested positive for novel coronavirus.

The result came after her sample was tested on Tuesday at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Mayor Ariful confirmed the matter and said, "She has not gone out of home for many days. I am also in home quarantine. I do not know how she has become infected."

Dr Jahidul Islam, chief health officer of the city corporation, said, "Shama Haque is stable now. She is in isolation at her home."

After his personal assistant tested positive for the virus, the mayor has been in home quarantine since May 23.

On May 27, former mayor of Sylhet City Corporation and Awami League's central committee member Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran and his wife Asma Kamran were also tested positive for Covid-19
