On 10 February, the MP received his first dose of Covid vaccine and had no adverse effect

Sylhet-3 lawmaker Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury has died from Covid-19 infection today.

The 66-year-old MP breathed his last around 2:40pm at the United Hospital in Dhaka.

Mahmud Samad's brother, Ahmeduz Samad, a prominent industrial entrepreneur from United Kingdom, confirmed of his death throught Facebook post.

Mahmud's Personal Assistant Julhas Ahmed said, "He was admitted to United Hospital on the night of 8 March (Sunday). The next morning he gave samples for coronavirus test."

Later, in the afternoon his Covid-19 result came positive.

Mahmud Samad was unwell for the past few days and his condition suddenly deteriorated while returning to Dhaka from Sylhet on Sunday, Julhas said.

Mahmud Us Samad was then taken on ventilation as his physical condition deteriorated.

On 10 February, the MP received his first dose of Covid vaccine and had no adverse effect.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and President Abdul Hamid have expressed deep condolences and sympathy over his demise.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has also expressed sorrow over the death of the parliament member.
