Highest single-day 22 deaths from coronavirus, 1773 new cases
Bangladesh today confirmed 22 more deaths from the novel coronavirus and 1773 new cases of infection, both a record yet.
With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 408 and the number of total infections stood at 28,511.
"Among the dead patients, 19 are male and three female. Ten of them are from Dhaka division, eight from Chattogram, two from Sylhet and one from Mymensingh," Additional Director General of Health Directorate Professor Dr Nasima Sultana made the disclosure during a virtual briefing today.
Dr Nasima further added, "16 of them died at different hospitals, five at their homes and one was diagnosed with the infection after death."
"10,174 samples were collected in last 24 hours and 10,262 of those were tested in 47 labs across country," she added.
Some 395 patients recovered from the virus during the time, increasing the number of total cured patients to 5,602.
Currently, 54,382 people are quarantined across the country – including 4,032 newly-quarantined individuals. A total of 201,152 people have completed their quarantine course.
Nasima Sultana said, "The authorities placed 154 new individuals suspected of having Covid-19 into isolation, bringing the total to 3,897 after 1,966 left."
"The country is capable of accommodating 13,284 people at different isolation wards and 31,840 people at 626 institutional quarantine facilities," she added.
Moreover, there are 399 ICU facilities and 106 dialysis beds available for the treatment of coronavirus infected patients in the country.
As many as 6,798,526 hotline health services were given by 16,112 trained and 4,206 volunteer doctors via three designated numbers, including 319,842 in last 24-hour till 8am today.
Till date, a total of 691,779 thermal screenings were conducted at different ports, including only 47 at land ports in the last 24 hours.
The virus has killed 329,903 people globally and infected 5,101,473 so far.
