Partex Group’s Chairman MA Hashem dies of Covid-19
After testing positive for Covid-19, Hashem had been receiving treatment at home till 10 December
Partex Group's founding Chairman MA Hashem died today at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
His son Showkat Aziz Russell informed of his father's demise in his personal Facebook account.
"My father M.A Hashem (78) took his last breath tonight 24th December @ 1:20 AM at the Evercare Hospital. Innalillahe wa inna ilaihe rajiun. Please pray for his departed soul and may he rest in Peace in heaven. Ameen," Showkat Aziz posted.
MA Hashem was 78 years old at the time of his death and left behind many admirers.
After testing positive for Covid-19, Hashem had been receiving treatment at home till 10 December.
The next day, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital.
On 16 December, Hashem's oxygen saturation level dropped, and he has been breathing with high flow nasal cannula.
MA Hashem, the founder and chairman of Partex Group, was a former member of Parliament from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
In 1959, Hashem began his career by trading tobacco and later went to establish Partex Group, one of the largest companies in Bangladesh. He exapnded his business into consumer goods, hard boards, insurance, real estate and steel.
Hashem was married to Sultana Hashem and they have six sons.
