A man died of Covid-19 and two others, including a local Awami League leader, died of novel Coronavirus symptoms in Pabna district on Wednesday.

Of them, Liaquat Ali, an office assistant of Central Girls' High School of Pabna, died of Covid-19 at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) at dawn while undergoing treatment, Talebur Rahman, headmaster of the school, said.

Besides, Altaf Hossain, a resident of Shalgarhia area in Pabna town, died at the ICU of the RMCH on Wednesday while undergoing treatment with Covid-19 symptoms.

"Samples have been collected for Covid-19 testing. Both of them were buried following the health guidelines," said Dr Saiful Ferdous, deputy director of the hospital. 

Additionally, Ismail Hossain, acting president of Ataikula union unit Awami League, also died with the Covid-19 symptoms at his residence in Sadar upazila, on Wednesday morning. 

Pabna Civil Surgeon Dr Mehedi Iqbal said some 57 more people tested positive in the district in the last 24 hours, taking the number of infected to 393. 

As of Wednesday, samples of more than 2,000 suspected Covid-19 patients sent to labs in Dhaka and Rajshahi labs are awaiting results, he added.
