State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid day on Monday directed the officials of different utilities in power sector to strictly follow the health guidelines in discharging their duties.

He gave the directives while holding a meeting with officials of different subordinate bodies under his ministry through video conference to review their activities and also prepare them ahead of Cyclone Amphan.

The directive came against the backdrop of the report that 18 field level workers of Rural Electrification Board (REB) were infected by Coronavirus in recent days.

Mentioning the case of Coronavirus infection, he said health guidelines have to be followed strictly and all the offices have to be kept clean.

He also directed all the officials to take all out preparations so that power supply could remain uninterrupted during the storm Amphan that was forecast by the Met Office.

He also urged the officials to work hard to achieve the government target to reach electricity to all the doors of the people.

The virtual meeting was also attended by power secretary Dr Sultan Ahmed, REB chairman Moin Uddin, Power Cell director general Mohammad Hossain and Managing Director of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) Golam Kibria also attended the meeting.
