The local administration has put Singair municipal area of Manikganj under lockdown as a Tabligh member found positive for the novel coronavirus.

"A group of 13 Tabligh members, including the infected coronavirus patient stayed at two local madrasas from March 24," Singair Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Runa Laila confirmed the matter.

One of the member went to the capital's The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) for further test after getting early coronavirus symptoms, she added.

Later, IEDCR confirmed the presence of the infected patient, aged around 60, is a resident of Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur, she said further.

The infected patient went to Azimpur Nayadangi Baitul Mamur and Markazul Maa Arif Wad-da-Wah Madrasas to attend the religious gathering.

12 other members, 6 local members and his family members, have been placed in the home quarantine.

The UNO also confirmed that the Singair municipal area has been put under lockdown since Sunday morning when IEDCR confirmed the matter on Saturday night.

Due to the lockdown, administration will help people to get their daily necessary products.
